as作连词, 引导时间状语从句, 表示“一边……一边……, 随着”, as从句的动作是延续性的, 一般用于主句和从句动作同时发生。

when引导的从句中的谓语动词可以是延续性, 又可以是瞬间动词。并且when有时表示“就在那时”。

while引导的从句中的谓语动作必须是延续性的, 并

强调主句和从句的动作同时发生(或者相对应),while有时还可表示对比。

例:The little girls sang as they walked.

小女孩儿们边走边唱。

As time went on, the weather got better.

随着时间的推移,天气变得好多了。

Sorry, I was out when you called me.

对不起,你给我打电话时我出去了。

While we were talking, the teacher came in.

=We were talking when the teacher came in.
